Ifap students participate in the national stage of the Federal Institutes Games – News of Brazil

With a delegation of 24 athletes, the Federal Institute of Amapá (Ifap) participates in the national stage of the Games of Federal Institutes (JIFs), which takes place from October 23rd to 28th, in Fortaleza-CE. Ifap students compete in five sports – football, chess, table tennis, swimming and athletics.
The opening ceremony took place this Monday (23), in the gymnasium of the Northeast Olympic Training Center (CFO), the location chosen to host 11 of the 12 JIFs modalities. The athletics events will be held at the Pici Campus of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC).
The elected and acting rector of Ifap, Romaro Silva, emphasizes how sport positively influences students inside and outside the classroom. “Sport contributes to fundamental aspects such as leadership and teamwork, skills that are essential for any professional to be successful in the world of work in a globalization context. Thus, Ifap has a history of increasing participation in the Federal Institutes Games (JIFs), strengthening our recognition of sport as a training dimension. It is also worth highlighting that the Ifap results, reaching the national stage, highlight the regional potential in the sports area”, he highlights.
The students are accompanied by the Dean of Education, Victor Hugo Sales, professors Rodrigo Deniur, Samyr Quebra and technicians Cristian Castro, Heliana Santos, Jeferson Sousa and Francisco Hamilton.
“The achievement of our athletes in the regional stage with first places is a source of great pride for our institution, an achievement that qualified them for the national stage. This achievement, for us, is recognition of the actions that have been developed within the scope of sports practices in recent years”says pro-rector Victor Sales.
North Stage
With the good performance in the North stage, held from September 25th to 30th, in Manaus-AM, there are high expectations from competitors for the national stage of the JIFs 2023. There were 11 gold medals, nine silver and four bronze medals in the JIFs North .
In the men’s and women’s team chess categories, students received gold and silver, respectively. In men’s individual chess, Bryan da Costa (Campus Macapá) took bronze and Ana Karolina Moreno (Campus Santana) took two medals, one silver and one bronze.
The field football team from Campus Laranjal do Jari won the gold medal. In men’s swimming, Gabriel França (Campus Macapá) obtained four gold medals and one bronze; in the same modality, Matheus Hanry (Campus Macapá) won a gold, a silver and a bronze medal. Student Kalliny Maize da Costa (Campus Macapá) also stood out in the women’s swimming category and received two golds and two silvers.
In women’s light-light judo, Jaqueline Tavares (Campus Santana) won a gold medal. In women’s athletics, Ana Ramos (Campus Macapá) received a silver and a bronze medal. In men’s athletics, Saulo Ítalo dos Santos (Campus Macapá) obtained one gold and two silvers. In Table Tennis, the duo Vitor Leal (Campus Macapá) and Frederico de Paiva (Campus Santana) won gold.
About JIFs
The Federal Institutions Games take place every year, bringing together student athletes from across the Federal Professional, Scientific and Technological Education Network. For the second time, the Federal Institute of Ceará will host the event, which will receive around 1,300 athletes and employees from all regions of Brazil.
