Ibaneis asks the STF to return and mentions the end of the intervention – 02/24/2023 – Panel

The removed governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), has filed a request with STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes so that he can immediately return to office.
In the piece, filed shortly before Carnival, Ibaneis’s defense argues that the end of the intervention in public security in the DF, on the last January 31st, makes it even more evident that there is no reason to maintain the removal.
The governor was removed from office due to the attacks on January 8, for a period of 90 days, which has just reached the halfway point.
“The end of the intervention made it clear that public security is in order. A Secretary of Public Security was appointed in agreement with the Minister of Justice, who the governor has already committed to maintaining. There is no reason to leave a man re-elected in the first round out of office”, says Ibaneis’ lawyer, Alberto Toron.
