I will always be loyal to Bolsonaro, says Tarcísio – 7/9/2023 – Politics

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), minimized this Sunday (9) the public disagreement with former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) over the Tax Reform.

“I’ve always had a very strong loyalty [a Bolsonaro]. The points about renovation I had put before him and everything is fine. We talked and I will always be loyal to the president, I will always be grateful to the president. If I’m here, I owe him,” he said.

The statement was given during an event commemorating the Revolution of 1932, in the capital of São Paulo. When asked by journalists about the crisis with Bolsonaro, Tarcísio called the former president a “great friend” and said that the divergence was natural.

“It is not possible that we will always agree on everything, it was like that when I was a minister. There were situations in which I disagreed with him, but I tried to advise him in the most respectful way, in the most loyal way possible.”

This Thursday (6), while Tarcísio was defending the Tax Reform, the former president received applause when he interrupted him to say that “if the PL is united, it does not approve anything”. Federal deputy Ricardo Salles (PL-SP), in turn, stated that the governor did not represent the right.

After the public disagreement, Bolsonarist deputies claim that the crisis has exposed the right’s dissatisfaction with the governor, which had previously been kept behind the scenes, and that the independence movement may cost it support in the state.

Bolsonaro has been acting as a firefighter in an attempt to overcome the split, but Bolsonarist militancy continues to castigate Tarcísio as a traitor in the networks, including the participation of the former president’s children.
