On the 7th and 8th of August, the Update Clinic for Futsal Coaches took place, promoted by the Associação Amapaense de Futebol de Salón (Fafs), and had as minister the coach of the Brazilian Futsal Selection, Xavier Marques. The event was part of the federation’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
“It is a challenge to plan all of this and bring people like Marquinhos Xavier in and make them understand the importance of this training. We are happy to have achieved our goal. Never before has the Federation been able to bring a Brazilian national team coach here and the athletes and coaches benefit from all this”he said Robson Handerson, president of the Amapaense Indoor Soccer Federation.
The course given was aimed at coaches, teachers, academics and/or graduates of Physical Education and brought together about 60 people.
“For the first time I’m coming to Macapá and it was a dream. I want to visit all the states of the country with the idea of getting to know the reality of futsal in Brazil, because today the modality is more centralized in the south and southeast, creating a structural problem that we need to solve because it ends up cutting off the possibility of other people , who has technical quality, reach a great club. I want to disseminate knowledge and get to know the reality of each state.” he said Xavier Marques.

Marquinhos Xavier He holds a degree in Physical Education with specializations in Human Movement Sciences and Exercise Physiology and a Master’s Degree in Human Movement Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS and a PhD in Human Movement Sciences from ESEFID/UFRGS.
Xavier began his professional career in 2002 as a Physical Trainer and Technical Assistant. In 2005 he assumed the position of Coach and since then he has carried out brilliant work at the head of his teams. Since 2017 he has held the position of coach of the Brazilian Futsal Team.
Marquinhos Xavier has several titles such as Champion of the LNF 2015, Taça Brasil 2016, Trichampionship of the Libertadores of America, Bicampeão of Liga Sudamericana de Futsal (2017/2018), Champion of the Grand Prix of National Teams 2018 and Vice-World Champion (Doha 2016 and Bangkok 2018), in addition to state titles such as Bi Champion Paranaense and Bi-Champion Gaúcho.
The coach was twice elected Best Coach of the National Futsal League – LNF (2010 and 2015) and nominated 5 times for the Best Futsal Coach in the World Award (Club and National Team) (Futsal Planet).
