‘I make my name available to be a pre-candidate for Mayor of Manaus’, says Roberto Cidade

Parliamentarian declared that he will run in the elections for Mayor if his party chooses him.

During the inauguration of state deputy Roberto Cidade as president of the Municipal Directory of União Brasil – Manaus (UB), which took place on Saturday (16), at the Mocidade Independente de Aparecida samba school, Aparecida neighborhood, south zone of the capital, the parliamentarian declared that he will contest the elections for City Hall if his party chooses him.

“I make my name available, if my group so understands, to be a pre-candidate for Mayor of Manaus. Our city needs to take a different look at problems. Manaus is the fifth capital in the country with the most revenue, there is no shortage of money, what is lacking is administration and planning. More than 300 thousand Manauaras live in poverty and it is with unity that we will improve the lives of these people. I feel prepared for this challenge. You can count on this caboco here”, he highlighted.

Guided by the party’s state president, Governor Wilson Lima, Cidade and the other 49 municipal presidents of União Brasil were sworn in and will lead the party in this year’s elections.

“It is a great honor for me to preside over União Brasil in Manaus. Today we have the largest bench of state deputies and, I have no doubt, we will have the largest bench of councilors in the Manaus City Council as well. I accept the challenge of presiding over União Brasil with the commitment to ensuring that we have the largest acronym and the greatest representation of the state of Amazonas. I will work even harder to lead União Brasil towards a more prosperous future for the people of our Manaus”, stated the president of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam).

Governor Wilson Lima thanked all 50 municipal presidents who accepted the challenge of commanding the acronym at the municipal level, and gave a special nod to the president of Aleam, who, according to Lima, with serenity, dialogue and unity has helped Amazonas to advance in several aspects.

“I am very grateful for having been chosen by the people of Amazonas to lead this state, but no one does anything alone and I thank the national president of UB, Antônio Rueda, and today all 50 municipal presidents of União Brasil. I especially thank President Roberto Cidade, who is always a person of dialogue and with determination to work. It’s people like you, Roberto Cidade, that we need, who get their hands dirty. It’s your sensitivity, your commitment, your conciliatory manner, it’s your family’s story of life and struggle that got you here,” said Lima.

Regarding Cidade’s willingness to be a pre-candidate for União Brasil for Mayor of Manaus, Lima highlighted the satisfaction of having people in the party who want to contribute to the state of Amazonas. “Our difference is work and unity. I am very happy with your expression. He is a young politician who has followed a path of serenity, a path of dialogue, focusing on improving people’s quality of life. Roberto, thank you very much for your willingness. Here no one needs to step on anyone, the difference in this group here is unity and work. Everyone who wants to contribute to the state of Amazonas is welcome. We are offering political strength and experience to build a better state. What we are building is also the largest arch of alliances in the city of Manaus”, stated Lima.

The ceremony brought together councilors (capital and interior), mayors from the interior, supporters, political and community leaders, as well as state deputies Felipe Souza (PRD), Alessandra Campelo (Podemos), Rozenha (PMB), Débora Menezes (PL), Mário César Filho (UB), Deputy Afonso (UB), George Lins (UB), Thiago Abrahim (UB), Cristiano Dangelo (MDB), Dr. Gomes (Podemos), Carlinhos Bessa (PV), Delegado Péricles (PL) and João Luiz (Republicans).
