President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated this Tuesday (27) that he hopes for the re-election of the current president of the United States, Joe Biden, in this year’s election. Both came from close elections against right-wing presidents. The PT member and the Democrat met in September last year. For Lula, a new Biden government can guarantee “the survival of the democratic regime”.

“I hope Biden wins the elections. I hope that people can vote for someone who has more affinity. I have seen Biden at the factory gates. Biden’s speech from the beginning until now is in defense of the world of work”, stated the head of the Brazilian Executive in an interview with journalist Kennedy Alencar, on TV network.

Biden must face former President Donald Trump in the 2024 elections. The Republican is still competing in the party’s caucuses against former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley. The republished candidate will be made official during the national convention in July. Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is an ally of Trump.

“Although I am not an American voter, there is no doubt about it. I obviously think that Biden is another guarantee for the survival of the democratic regime in the world and in the United States”, added Lula.
