The Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, confirmed that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will transfer the management of presidential security to the Institutional Security Cabinet (GSI). The measure, however, displeased members of the Federal Police (PF), who had been performing this function.
Also according to the Minister of the Civil House, the return of presidential security to the functions of the GSI will take place in a hybrid model. In other words, with members of the Armed Forces and agents of the Federal Police, who will be chosen by Lula.
“President Lula will be free to invite whomever he sees fit, regardless of whether they are Federal Police, military police, or members of the Armed Forces. A hybrid model will be set up, but under the coordination of the GSI”, said Rui Costa this Tuesday. fair (20).
However, the decision had negative repercussions within the PF leadership, led by the delegate general, Andrei Passos. The police have already signaled that they do not accept being subordinated to the military and vice versa.
Currently, the structure commanded by the PF responds to the president’s chief of staff, Marco Aurélio Ribeiro, and has around 400 police officers. Most of the agents are from the PF, but there are also members of the National Force, the Armed Forces, the Military Police and the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin).
According to the institution’s leadership, the PF has not yet been informed about Lula’s decision to change the security model.
