Eletrobras and BTG Pactual were the highlights in the second largest energy auction ever held by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), which took place this Thursday (28), at the headquarters of the B3 stock exchange, in São Paulo.

The mega auction totaled R$ 18.2 billion in investments and 6,464 kilometers of new transmission lines and sections, to be built in 14 states. Six of the largest energy companies participated and there was an offer on all lots.

The average discount for the event was 40.78%, which represents savings for the end consumer of around R$30.1 billion, according to Aneel.

Eletrobras won four of the 15 lots offered, in the states of Ceará, Paraíba, Piauí, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia and Santa Catarina. The total investment in lots 1, 3, 5 and 9 is R$5.5 billion. The company’s discount was between 26.94% (lot 3) and 59.39% (lot 9).

BTG Pactual, through the Fundo de Investimento em Participações Development Warehouse (FIP Warehouse), won three lots, with number 6 being the largest in the event. Its planned investment was R$3.4 billion to build 951 kilometers of lines between Bahia and Minas Gerais.

In total, BTG’s estimated investment is R$6.49 billion. The company’s discount was between 30.50% (lot 4) and 53.57% (lot 14).

The term for commercial operation of the projects varies from 36 to 72 months, for concessions lasting 30 years, counting from the signing of the contracts.

The concession contracts are expected to be signed on June 28th of this year. According to Aneel, the expectation that the works on these constructions will generate around 35 thousand jobs.
