On the other hand, butter is a 100% product of animal origin, as it is made from cream or whipped cream. It is worth mentioning that margarine was created by the industry as an alternative to butter, which requires large amounts of milk to be produced. Honey, fish, butter: the most fraudulent foods in Brazil Target of fraud Due to the similarity between products, some traders may use ingredients with lower added value to replace more expensive ones. The crime of fraud occurs even in the case of misleading product labeling. Throughout 2022, for example, the Ministry of Agriculture identified that a group of manufacturers added vegetable oil when preparing butter. Of the 150 national samples, evidence of fraud – such as misleading labeling – was found in 6% of them.
