Finance Minister Fernando Haddad (PT) said in an interview with businessman Abílio Diniz that communicating well is crucial, but that the government does not know how to deal well with social networks.
The statement was given on the program “Caminhos com Abílio Diniz”, which will air on CNN Brasil this Thursday (18), at 22:15.
Abilio had said that “it’s not enough to be, you also have to look like it”, commenting on the need for the government to communicate well.
“This is especially crucial today with social media,” Haddad responded. He added that the far right has learned to use these tools. “But we Democrats don’t know how to deal with social media,” he added.
The minister also spoke about the drop in interest rates, a demand by the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to the Central Bank, which is autonomous. For Haddad, the measures taken so far make room for the reduction and that the decision has to be technical.
“This discussion is technical, it should not be political. You can have two economists, one who thinks ‘no, it’s better to wait’ and the other who thinks ‘there is already room for monetary policy to reinforce fiscal policy'” , he explained.
