The finance minister, Fernando Haddad, got into trouble with the mayor, Arthur Lira.

In an interview with journalist Reinaldo Azevedo, Haddad said the following: “We left coalition presidentialism and today we live a very strange thing, which is a parliamentarism without a prime minister. (…) [A Câmara] it has a power that I have never seen in my life. I think there has to be moderation.”

Brazilian presidentialism has never changed. There is no parliamentary system, and the Chamber continues to carry out the attributions that the Constitution gave it.

It is common for the government to complain about the powers of the Legislature and the Judiciary, but such is life.

It is a mistake to believe that the government and society are embodied by those who won the election, who had the vote.

The bullet train is immortal

Last March, the project for a bullet train capable of connecting Rio and São Paulo in just four hours reappeared.

The project had been buried for a decade, after going from a good idea to crazy and from crazy to scandal, the bullet train generated a state-owned company, which ended up surviving. It was reborn in March, in the form of an authorization for the company TAV Brasil to run the project, with a caveat: Viúva will not enter into this business. All private.

Five months passed. It is not known who is interested in the investment and the project is not known. Even so, the Minister of Transport, Renan Filho, has already said the following:

“If there is a private investor (…) We understand that it is a very structuring work for the country and we can eventually support it. Let’s say that the work costs R$ 50 billion. but he can do it with R$ 40 billion. He would need R$ 10 billion from the federal government. If that moment comes, I think we can discuss it”.

In five months, without anything happening, Renan Filho has already agreed to discuss a contribution of R$ 10 billion from the Boa Senhora scholarship.
