Hacker tries to link Bolsonaro to alleged wiretap against Moraes

Walter Delgatti Neto, a hacker who invaded the Telegram accounts of Lava Jato task force members, said this Thursday (17) that he would have participated in meetings last year with deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) and other members of the PL, such as former president Jair Bolsonaro, the party’s president, Valdemar da Costa Neto, and marketer Duda Lima, to discuss electronic ballot boxes.

Delgatti Neto is the same hacker who was accused of invading the messaging apps of former prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol and former Lava Jato judge Sergio Moro and leaking information that was later used to destroy the operation.

In a statement to the CPMI on the acts of January 8, he stated that former President Jair Bolsonaro’s campaign was planning to forge the invasion of an electronic ballot box during the celebrations of September 7, 2022. Waldemar da Costa Neto would not have been present. Delgatti has been arrested since August, as part of the Federal Police’s 3FA operation, which also carried out search and seizure warrants at addresses linked to federal deputy Carla Zambelli.

Delgatti was authorized by the STF to remain silent at the CPMI, but he decided to answer the questions from parliamentarians. Among the accusations he made, he said that Bolsonaro, in a call intermediated by Zambelli, would have asked him to assume authorship of an alleged wiretapping of conversations by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

Without presenting evidence, he said that he accepted the alleged proposal, however, that he did not have access to the wiretap. Delgatti also accused Bolsonaro of promising to protect him. “In this wiretap there would be compromising conversations by the minister and he [Bolsonaro] I needed to take over this wiretap”, said Delgatti, also stating that the alleged interception would have been carried out by a person outside the country.

He also said that the intention of Bolsonaro’s campaign was to turn him into a “poster boy”. “I was the Lava Jato hacker, it would be difficult for the left to question authorship [do grampo]”, said Delgatti to the rapporteur of the CPMI on January 8, senator Eliziane Gama (PSD-MA).

The hacker, who is a known criminal, has provided no material evidence of his allegations.

After the statement, Duda Lima denied having met with Delgatti and said he was “outraged” with Delgatti’s statements. “The guy says that I would have asked him to do a presentation at the Sete de Setembro fashion show. During his testimony, Delgatti admitted to having invaded the systems of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and courts of justice, which were targets of the recent operation that led to his arrest.

On Wednesday (16), Delgatti testified to the Federal Police (PF) for about four hours. According to the hacker’s defense, he presented evidence that he would have received R$ 40,000 from Deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) to invade “any Judiciary system”. The deputy denies irregularities and says that she hired the hacker just to do maintenance on her website.

Defenders deny Delgatti’s statements

A People’s Gazette tries to contact the defenses of Bolsonaro and Carla Zambelli, quoted by the hacker Walter Delgatti.

Lawyer Fabio Wajngarten, who defends the former president, published a series of messages on social media denying Delgatti’s claims.

In one of them, Wajngarten states that “at no time did they even consider the entry of computer technicians, much less technological climbers in the campaign” of Bolsonaro, and that he does not know “anyone who has had an individual meeting with Bolsonaro whose duration has been 1 hour and a half ”.

“There has never, ever been a wiretap, or any illegal or non-republican activity, against any political entity in Brazil by the President’s primary circle. Mind and mind and mind”, fired Wajngarten.

The lawyer also said that he has been living with the former president since 2016 and that Bolsonaro “never suggested any publicity briefing for the production of any movie script or advertisement”. “To today’s witness, the President would be a Spielberg of electoral issues”, he added, stating that the politician “always played within the four lines” and that he would not ask to rig the elections.

Lawyer Daniel Bialski, who defends Carla Zambelli, said that the deputy “refutes and rejects any accusation of illicit or immoral conduct”, denying what he calls the “allegions and teratologies” mentioned by Delgatti.

He claims that the hacker is a person without credibility who changes versions and that his word is “without suitability”. Bialski also said that he did not have access to the records of that investigation and that he will make a public statement “as soon as possible”.

The national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, also refuted Delgatti’s statements that he had asked for the invasion of Alexandre de Moraes’ cell phone, and that he had no reason to do so.

“Everything is easy talk. There was no reason to tap Moraes’ cell phone. It was just nonsense. In August, I got on very well with Alexandre de Moraes, I even went to have breakfast at his house here in Brasília. Our fight started in the campaign, after the first round of elections,” he said in an interview with CNN Brazil.

Costa Neto reinforced a recent statement that Delgatti was at the party’s headquarters in Brasília, last year, at the request of Carla Zambelli to speak about polling stations. However, at no time were there any negotiations for the invasion. He also denied that marketer Duda Lima had participated in the meeting — “he said nonsense”, he added.
