Group proposes fund for debts of female candidates – 03/27/2023 – Panel

A group of deputies will propose an alternative to the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) that, once again, amnesty political parties that did not meet the quotas for women and blacks in the 2022 elections.
They want the resources not allocated by the parties to these groups last year to form a fund to settle the debts of women and black candidates who were unable to pay the bills.
The movement “I want you elected” leads the proposal. For him, the amnesty ends up penalizing such candidacies even more because many of those who are currently in debt believed in the promises of resources made by party leaders, which did not materialize.
In addition to not having the necessary conditions, they have to personally bear the expenses and are discouraged from trying again.
By law, parties must allocate funds from the electoral fund in proportion to the candidates (never less than 30%) and the black candidates they launch.
Last Wednesday (22), however, a PEC was filed in the Chamber to extend the amnesty given to parties that did not comply in 2020 until 2022. The proposal has more than 180 signatures, from parties of different political stripes.
Now, “I want you elected” is trying to get unified support from the women’s bench for the fund’s proposal. The articulation is for the withdrawal of the signatures of deputies who have already subscribed to the PEC.
