Governor Clécio meets with President Lula and presents priority agendas for Amapá – News of Brazil

Amapá’s main demands are closely addressed by the governor Clécio Luís, which will be received this Thursday, 23rd, by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to address priority improvement issues for the state’s population, such as the readjustment of electricity, and Amapá’s participation in climate discussions during COP-30, which will be held in 2025 in Brazil. The meeting was organized by Senator David Alcolumbre.
Clécio Luís has already met with the president Lula at other times, with the other governors, but this Thursday’s meeting is one of the most important for Amapá, as the governor, together with the senator David, will have the opportunity to deal with issues exclusive to the state.
On the agenda at Palácio do Planalto, Clécio Luís will mark the 44% adjustment in the tariff determined by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), scheduled to come into force from December 13th, which will result in Amapá having the highest bill in the entire country.
“Today the price of the energy tariff in Amapá is priceless. This does not fit into the pockets of the people of Amapá, those who need to preserve their food, those who want access to information and we are not going to solve this in isolation. We count on President Lula’s sensitivity, as we will certainly have a very serious economic and social problem”highlights.
Clécio Luís even met with the minister of mines and energy, Alexandre Silveira, to address a specific policy for the issue of tariff adjustments in the Amazon region. At the time, a provisional measure was announced. The governor’s meeting with President Lula could definitively resolve the electricity situation.
Governor Clécio requests that COP-30 events be held in Amapá
Another theme defended by the governor is the effective participation of Amapá in climate discussions during the meeting of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 30), which will be held in Belém, Pará, in 2025 .
Before the summit, representatives of the signatory countries meet at various events to discuss their positions. These pre-COP opportunities bring representatives of civil society, companies and decision makers together and give an idea of what to expect from the year’s summit.
The governor requests that these pre-events also take place in Amapá, which is just 40 minutes from Belém, taking as an example the municipality of Santarém in Pará, which will also host these meetings.
“The COP belongs to the Amazon. We can and want to be part of these discussions. We are the most preserved state in Brazil, we reduced deforestation this year, while continuing to build sustainable development policies for the population. Therefore, it is only fair that we be able to be an executing party in this process in the country”concluded the governor.
Clecio, in Brasília, he is accompanied by the secretaries of state for planning, Jorge Pires; of infrastructure, David Covre; representation in Brasília, Asiel Araújo, and the state deputy Rodolfo Vale.
