In a meeting with the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvathis Thursday, 23rd, at the Palácio do Planalto, in Brasília, the governor Clécio Luís guaranteed the support of the federal government to prevent the 44.41% tariff adjustment in Amapá’s energy bills, which is scheduled to be applied on December 13th.

The meeting with exclusive agendas for Amapá was organized by the senator David Alcolumbre, who represented the entire Amapá bench – the three senators and the eight federal deputies. On the agenda, which included several demands from the state, energy was a priority.

“We came to discuss several issues with President Lula, but energy was the main thing, the most important thing. We came to fight to prevent the 44% increase in our electricity bill from being applied on December 13th. We outline the entire scenario, which should affect Amazonas, other states, until it reaches the entire national territory”highlighted Clécio Luís.

The situation presented by the governor touched the president Squid, who put himself in the position of a resident of Amapá, and signaled the proposal to issue a provisional measure (MP) on Friday, the 24th, blocking the increase in energy.

“I will place myself as a resident who also does not accept this adjustment, because it is inconceivable. 44% no one can handle it”the president said to the governor Clecio.

During the meeting, the president Lula summoned the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira; the Minister of Regional Integration and Development, Waldez Góes, and that of the Civil House, minister Rui Costa, to discuss proposed solutions to the problem.

“The people of Amapá cannot handle this readjustment. It doesn’t fit in your pocket and it’s not fair. We are the most preserved state in the country, we have the best environmental indicators, but we do not have the best social indicators, much less economic ones. Our people are humble people. Therefore, we want an immediate solution so that this readjustment does not happen. But we are also looking for a structural solution so that this does not happen again next year. And this Amapá experience will undoubtedly be valuable and will solve many problems related to the readjustment”scored Clécio Luís.

Increase in electricity bill

The proposal from the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) is to readjust the tariff value for Amapá residents by 44.41% from December 13th.

With the coordination of the governor Clécio Luís Together with the federal government, the idea is that not only will the readjustment be blocked, but that the Union will present a long-term solution for the country.
