The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), stated this Friday (24) that the government will present a proposal by the end of this year to replace the payroll tax exemption, vetoed in full this Thursday by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva .
According to Haddad, the exemption is in effect until the end of December, and the government intends to forward a proposal after the vote on the Tax Reform, which should be voted on later this month. He also defended the end of the ICMS subsidy, which is being analyzed by Congress, in MP (Provisional Measure) 1,185, which seeks to eliminate loopholes that currently facilitate the removal of these benefits from the calculation basis of federal IRPJ and CSLL taxes. .
On Thursday night (23), the minister called a press conference in São Paulo, making it a mystery as to what subject would be discussed. The invitation sent by the Treasury department said that the topic would only be informed during the meeting with journalists.
