The government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) began to rehearse a rapprochement with Cuba after seven years without relations, and sent Minister Daniela Carneiro, of Tourism, to participate in a sector fair last weekend.

Daniela traveled to Havana last Friday (5th) to represent Brazil at the G-77+ China, an event that brings together tourism authorities from over 100 countries, according to posts by the minister on social media.

Her official agenda recorded only the events of the first day of the trip, such as a meeting of ministers and a technical visit to the center of the Cuban capital.

“The meeting works on the theme ‘Tourism as a driver of economic, inclusive and sustainable development for the countries of the global South’ and marks the presence of ministers and authorities of the sector from more than 100 countries”, posted the Ministry of Tourism on social networks .

The ministry also posted images in which Daniela presents representatives of the Cuban government with pins from the “Marca Brasil” campaign, such as President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, and Minister Juan Carlos Granda, of Tourism.

The minister said, through the Ministry’s press office, that “developing tourism with an economic, inclusive and sustainable bias is one of the priorities of the federal government and we are in a position to advance in these guidelines through cooperation actions, providing more and more competitiveness to our destinations”.

Daniela Carneiro also stated that the ministry is developing an action called Intelligent Tourist Destinations (DTI), based on “pillars such as innovation, sustainability and accessibility. Through this process, we are going to support Brazilian cities in the elaboration of transformation plans, in order to guarantee innovative tourist experiences for our visitors”, she said.

Over the weekend, Daniela did not post on social networks and, this Monday (8), she only published a tribute to the National Tourism Day and reposted two ministry publications unrelated to the trip to Cuba.

The Ministry of Tourism was sought to inform which other official events Daniela Carneiro participated in Cuba, but did not respond until the closure of the report.
