The Ministries of Defense and Justice are due to meet this Monday (17th) to draw up new restrictions on collectors, sport shooters and gun hunters (CACs) and change the attribution of inspection from the Army to the Federal Police.

As found out by G1, the intention is that the new restrictions target mainly people in possession of large quantities of weapons or large-caliber weapons. The change of supervision to the PF would be due to the Army’s lack of structure.

Although there is no official response to these changes, Minister Flávio Dino, of Justice, said over the weekend that, in the coming days, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will “announce and implement important measures in the area of security public”.

“Expansion of structures against criminal organizations; more police operations integrated with states; expansion of the presence of Security in the Amazon and on the borders; responsible gun control; release of resources for States and municipalities, among other measures”, said the minister.

Lula is in Belgium participating in the III Celac-EU Summit and returns to Brazil on Wednesday morning (19).

The possibility of announcing new restrictions this week confirms what Flávio Dino had already advanced in the middle of last month, that new measures would be enacted by the government.

Among them is the repurchase of large-caliber weapons, restrictions on advertising for shooting clubs on the Internet and limitations such as the impossibility of locating them near schools and prohibiting these places from operating 24 hours a day.

On the occasion, the minister also said that the registration of civilian weapons would be carried out by the PF, through the National Weapons System (Sinarm), with the migration of registrations from the Army CACs being carried out since January.
