The request for the creation of the CPI to investigate the acts of vandalism to the Three Powers on January 8 lost the support of government senators, after the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, presented a position contrary to the creation of the CPI to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and demand confirmation of the signatures of the request presented by Senator Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil – MS), until last Friday (17).

An updated list of signatures of senators who support the CPI was released this Monday (20). Of the 44 signatures reached in January of this year, only 15 were ratified, 9 withdrawn and 20 did not manifest about the ratification or withdrawal of the signature, which does not count for installation. For a CPI to be installed in the Federal Senate, signatures of at least 27 parliamentarians are required.

Among the parliamentarians who excluded support are government members and leaders, such as Senators Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP), who is Lula’s leader in the National Congress, and Fabiano Contarato (PT-ES), leader of the Workers’ Party bench ( EN) in the House. Also following the withdrawal were senators Flávio Arns (PSB-PR), Humberto Costa (PT-PE), Leila Barros (PDT-DF), Zequinha Marinho, Zenaide Maia (PSD-RN), Weverton (PDT-MA) and Ângelo Colonel (PSD-BA).

Lula’s government has acted against the installation of the CPI, considering that the ongoing investigations, such as those that supported the various phases of Operation Lesa Pátria already launched by the Federal Police (PF), are capable of elucidating the motivations for the acts of vandalism. .
