In charge of raising solutions to promote the national defense industry, the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services mapped the production of drones as a new frontier of war production in Brazil.
It is a relatively accessible and cheap technology, and an instrument increasingly used in international conflicts. Turkish production, which supplies Ukraine, for example, is cited internally as a success story.
In addition, the portfolio sees as profitable the training of manpower for the maintenance of defense equipment.
It is an activity that also involves technology and can grow, given that products in this area are made to last for many years, not to be replaced.
The third sector seen as promising is that which brings together defense and the environment. Given the ever-increasing importance of protecting the forest, there will be more demand for products that allow you to monitor the region.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) brought together MDIC vice-president and minister, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) and Defense minister, José Múcio, at the beginning of his term, and asked that both dedicate themselves to solutions to foster the sector. In addition to the economic aspect, the prioritization is also a nod to the military, a group that the PT tries to approach.
According to reports, however, for now, the recovery of Avibrás has consumed most of the efforts. The national missile manufacturer is facing a serious crisis and filed for bankruptcy in 2022.
