Government releases credit worth R$32.4 billion to ministries, states and municipalities

The Ministry of Planning and Budget published an ordinance this Monday (11), in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU), which releases a supplementary credit of R$32.4 billion. The amount will be divided between various bodies of the federal Executive Branch; financial burden on the Union; transfers to States, Federal District and Municipalities; official credit operations; and the Federal Public Debt. The document was signed by substitute minister Gustavo José de Guimarães.

The Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger will receive the largest financial contribution, worth R$22.9 billion. The majority of the resources will be used to pay families benefiting from the Bolsa Família Program.

Other ministries benefiting from the opening of credit were:

• Education – R$753.1 million;
• Cities – R$436.9 million;
• Agriculture – R$361.8 million
• Defense – R$356 million;
• Social Security – R$257.6 million;
• Justice and Public Security R$244.9 million;
• Foreign Affairs R$208.9 million;

The majority of resources for Education were divided between federal universities to fund student assistance in Higher Education and special operations of regular contributions to international organizations governed by private law without requiring specific programming.

The ordinance also includes the reallocation of R$4.4 billion to service the country’s internal debt, which will be used to pay interest and amortize the public debt. As for the states and municipalities, R$1.8 million was reallocated to pay for financial aid to active military personnel in former federal territories.
