President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said this Tuesday that he had received a project, presented by the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino (PSB), to discuss with society the regulation of digital media in favor of combating fake news. .
“We are going to start discussing, this project is in the Civil House, we intend to discuss it with society, open a debate in society, to find out how we prohibit app companies from disclosing news that is inappropriate, or is lying , or they are violent, or they encourage people to do things that are no good. We are aware that liars, those people who preach evil and lies on the internet, cannot have the ease that they have”, he said during a coffee with communicators left.
Lula said that the discussion on media regulation should involve all countries in the world, and not just one nation. He said he intends to discuss the issue with the president of the United States, Joe Biden, with whom he will meet next Friday, and with members of the G20 and the Brics.
“I think that if we want to discuss the regulation of digital media in the world, it can’t be a problem for just one country. It has to be a problem for all countries in the world to regulate something that gives peace of mind to the democratic regime. We have to have awareness that liars, those people who use the internet to preach evil and lies, these people cannot have the facility they have”, he declared.
During the meeting, Lula stated that he will open a bidding process for the Mais Médicos program, citing the need to increase investments in health, especially in the country’s corners.
“We are going to have to open a bidding process for Mais Médicos. We have to give preference to our doctors to go there. But, if they don’t have our doctors, we will look for a doctor from elsewhere to take them”, he said, citing the program that became a target. of opposition criticism, especially with the participation of Cuban doctors.
Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), for example, said that the program was used to finance the government of Cuba.
