Government plans implementation of desalination station in Bailique – News of Brazil

The Amapá Water and Sewage Company (Caesa) plans strategies to produce drinking water for the riverside communities of the Bailique Archipelago, as an alternative to the social problems caused by the salinization of the waters that bathe the place. Caesa works with the support of the National Industrial Apprenticeship Service (Senai) in the construction of the Bailique Project, which plans to install a desalination plant to serve the locality.
Since the end of 2021, the advance of the phenomenon of water salinization has increased exponentially, affecting almost the entire region of the archipelago. Since then, residents of Bailique communities have resorted to capturing rainwater in cisterns for domestic consumption, but a future definitive solution is one of the Company’s commitments.
To align the beginning of the technical activities for the realization of the project, this Monday (30th), the board of Caesa met with the Executive Management of Senai in Amapá and partner technicians from other states. At the meeting, all the steps were defined for the Bailique Project to be ready for fundraising and execution.
“Here we have a project that will be worked on by many hands and with a lot of technical and political articulation so that we can implement a solution that will serve as an example for Brazil and the world, in solving the difficulties of the peoples of the Amazon”explained the director-president of Caesa, Jorge Amanajas.
The project seeks sustainable viability for its implementation. Remotely, the executive manager of Operations of Sesi / Senai in Amapá, Júlio Zorzal, and the research coordinator of the Senai Institute of Innovation and Green Chemistry, Antônio Augusto Fidalgo.
