Government of PR wants the Senate to take over Moro’s security in the state – 03/23/2023 – Panel

The discovery of a PCC plan to attack Senator Sergio Moro (União-PR) heated up an arm wrestling match between the government of Paraná and the Senate.
The state says it asked the Legislative Police at the beginning of the year to take care of the protection of the former judge, with the justification that its PM (Military Police) does not have this obligation.
As the demand was refused, the local bodies claim that they had to take over the function. Paraná residents now argue that the ideal thing is for the Senate to have a team in the state, given the gravity of the threat.
The Senate says that its police are responsible for escorting senators in Brazil and abroad, when determined by the President of the House. For this, it has specific teams.
“In some cases, and considering the low number of agents at the moment, it has occasionally had the cooperation of state police forces, always in a documented and official way”, he says in a note.
This Wednesday (22) the Federal Police carried out a series of steps to dismantle a plan by the PCC criminal faction that intended to carry out attacks against authorities. One of the targets was former Lava Jato judge and current senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR).
