One of the street races that gains many more fans every year, the France-Brazil Race, held on the border of Oiapoque with French Guiana, has the support of the Government of Amapá for the 5th edition that takes place on Saturday morning, 14 .
This year, the coordination of the event in partnership with the State Secretariat for Sports and Leisure (Sedel) defined two routes for the runners, one of six kilometers and the other of 26. The little athletes will also have the Corridinha Kids, a special race in celebration of Children’s week.
“The race will move our border. And in addition to strengthening ties in the sports sector, we will also boost the economy, because people from all over the state have already confirmed their presence and are heading to Oiapoque”, said the Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Rudney Cunha.
In the race, the only cross-border street race in South America, both the start and finish will be at the Binacional Bridge, which connects Brazil and France. The program starts at 6am. The routes were planned so that participants can run in the French city of Saint George and the Brazilian city of Oiapoque, in the extreme north of the country.
First place winners will receive trophies, medals and cash prizes of up to R$4,000 for the champions. All participants will receive personalized medals.
For delegate Charles Corrêa, creator and coordinator of the France-Brazil Race, the sporting event is being well received by the public: “We managed to place the Transfrontier Race on the national calendar and we even registered registrations from runners from São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, people who come from far away and also encourage tourism”, he highlighted.
