In five days, the Government of Amapá reached more than 500 people with the first edition of the Assistance Desk of the Secretary of State for the Environment (Sema). The action ended on Sunday, the 23rd, and provided farmers in the municipalities of Serra do Navio, Pedra Branca do Amapari and Porto Grande with access to services such as the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR), without the need to move from the city where they live.
The CAR is an electronic document that gathers information on the properties and is the first step for the producer to obtain an environmental license and credit for rural production.
Sema’s secretary, Taísa Mendonca, highlighted that the Service Desk is part of public policies for economic development with social and environmental responsibility.
“When we encourage and value the small producer, taking opportunities to regularize the Rural Environmental Registry and information about valorization projects, we strengthen and create concrete possibilities for development”highlighted Mendonca.

The Assistance Desk also provided workers with information about the public call for payment project for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+), in the Conservation modality, for results achieved by Brazil in the Amazon biome in 2014 and 2015.
The Service Desks will be permanent, with the expectation of serving all 16 municipalities in the State later this year. The strategy recognizes the role of producers in maintaining environmental services with sustainable practices.

It is a partnership between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), that encourages and values the small producer.
