Government of Amapá and Ministry of Agriculture discuss actions to strengthen agribusiness and the primary sector in the state – News of Brazil

The vice-governor of Amapá, Antonio Teles, met this Monday, 29th, with the executive secretary and interim minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), Irajá Lacerda, and directors of departments linked to the primary sector and agribusiness, to discuss strategic actions to advance the sectors in the state. The meeting took place at the vice-governor’s headquarters, in Macapá.
One of the points discussed at the meeting was to highlight Amapá as Brazil’s new agricultural frontier and, in this way, create mechanisms with the Federal Government, to attract investments from the private sector in the agribusiness area, which will also benefit rural production in the state.
“There are two essential ways to make Amapá attractive, which is the debureaucratization of processes within institutions, whether State or Union, and the creation of credit lines, and this is already happening and our state is increasingly more gaining visibility for investment in agribusiness and, as a consequence, in family farming”highlighted the vice-governor, Teles Junior.
In 2023, the Government of Amapá launched public consultations for environmental licenses and is already working on releasing more than 36 thousand hectares of areas for grain planting and forest management.
“We believe that the state has all the potential to contribute both to sustainability and also to food production, that is, it is possible to align development with environmental preservation”emphasized the interim minister and executive secretary of Mapa, Irajá Lacerda.
During the meeting, it was also defined that Mapa will work together with the State Government to organize exercises within the institutions that speed up the licensing and concession issuing processes.
The meeting was attended by state deputy Jesus Pontes, representative of the Legislative Assembly of Amapá (Alap) and the superintendent of Agriculture and Livestock of Amapá (Mapa), Samuel Sales.
