Ratifying the policy of developing the road network and urban mobility in Amapá, the governor Clécio Luís This Saturday, the 16th, the Centenário Highway, known as North and South, was delivered, which received the new nomenclature in honor of the 106 years of the Duas – A Pioneira Assembly, in the state.

The Centenário Highway is one of the largest urban mobility projects in the state. It is 7 kilometers long and is part of the Metropolitan Arch of Integration formed by the Duca Serra Highway, BR-210, Metropolitan Region, and North, West, South and Center Zones of Macapá. For governor Clécio Luís, in addition to facilitating movement, the objective of the road is to favor the transport and flow of production in the primary sector.

“In our Government Program this highway is included in the Metropolitan Arch of Integration, because we are going to integrate this entire area, being Duca Serra, Rodovia do Centenário, with the duplication of Km 9., where we already have the resource of Senator Davi already allocated, the project is ready and now we will bid. So we will have two other internal highways here, one through Goiabal and the other through Coração, both to Josmar Pinto. So we are going to have an area with a lot of integration in the metropolitan region that brings together Macapá, Santana, and Mazagão”emphasized the governor.

A resident of Bairro Alvorada, in the West Zone of Macapá, Ester Santos says she followed the entire construction of the highway from the beginning. For her, seeing the project completed is a cause for great celebration.

“We have been present since the creation of Norte and Sul, we were present. And today, seeing it all revitalized, ready, all interconnected, with lighting, paving, for us is a marvel, it’s a great achievement, especially with this viaduct that connects Macapá and Santana. So, today we can see and understand the importance of this great project that was idealized, dreamed of and that is now truly materialized”highlighted Ester Santos.

The work on the North and South Highway, today named Centenário, which began in 2011 and faced stoppages over the years, was completed after intensified work in 2023, in the services of earthmoving, drainage, construction of galleries, asphalt paving, signage, urbanization, cycle path and lighting.

Along with the construction of the viaduct in the region, investments total more than R$130 million from the State Treasury. The work generated 430 direct and indirect jobs, in addition to positive impacts on improving trafficability, quality and safety in urban mobility.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several state authorities such as the Minister of Regional Integration and Development, Waldez Góes.
