Government creates task force with PF and PRF to investigate attacks against power towers

Minister Alexandre Silveira, of Mines and Energy, met this Tuesday (17) with representatives of the electricity sector in the country, the Federal Police and the Federal Highway Police, to determine prevention and investigation measures to punish those responsible for attacks against electricity transmission towers connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
Yesterday the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) said it had identified seven cases of vandalism. Occurrences were recorded in Rondônia (3), Paraná (2) and São Paulo (2).
Among the actions defined by the group are special inspections on transmission lines, mainly at road and railroad crossings, installation of monitoring cameras and strengthening of partnerships with the Ministry of Justice and the Military, State and Federal Highway Police to reinforce patrolling. in these regions.
“The meeting served to discuss fundamental issues for modernizing the security of the National Interconnected System (SIN). There is a great desire from all players in the system, with the implementation of video surveillance, surveillance via drone and other very modern instruments that we have in the world today. This event is serving as an opportunity for us to advance in the security of this great heritage of all Brazilian men and women”, highlighted the minister.
Silveira also informed that the Federal Police are carrying out investigations to investigate the recent attacks and all the necessary measures for monitoring the system are being taken by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, by Aneel and by government intelligence agencies, such as GSI, PF, PRF and Ministry of Justice.
“All this work is being carried out so that we can turn the page on these attacks, which are not justified, and be able to continue discussing important issues, such as the modernization of the electrical system, the energy transition, low tariffs, such fundamental and priority issues. for the country and for President Lula,” said the minister. He also highlighted that, despite the attacks, the energy supply for the population was never harmed.
