Petrobras informed, this Wednesday morning (1st), that it received a letter from the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) to suspend the sale of company assets for 90 days.

The government’s request was made on Tuesday afternoon (28) due to the “reassessment of the National Energy Policy currently underway and the establishment of a new composition of the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE), respecting the Company’s governance rules, commitments assumed with government entities and without putting Petrobras’ insurmountable interests at risk” (see in full).

According to the state-owned company, the Board of Directors will analyze the ongoing processes “from the perspective of civil law and within the rules of governance, as well as any commitments already assumed”. The request was made one day after the MME sent the list of government nominees to the council, with names suggested by the ministry itself and from the Public Services Management and Innovation portfolio.
