Manaus (AM) – Governor Wilson Lima announced, this Tuesday (3), the anticipation of the payment of this month’s State Aid and the forwarding of a Bill to amnesty rural producers with losses due to the drought who had credit operations with the Development of the State of Amazonas (Afeam).

The new measures, aimed at minimizing the impact of the drought on affected families, were announced during a meeting of the Intersectoral Committee for Coping with Environmental Emergency Situations.

highlighted Governor Wilson Lima.

On this occasion, the governor also announced the arrival of a delegation from the Federal Government, this Wednesday (04), including the Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, and ministers, to discuss support for the actions of the State Government.

According to a survey by the Civil Defense of Amazonas, until the beginning of this Tuesday afternoon, 24 municipalities were in an emergency situation; 34 are on alert; two in attention; and two in normality. The drought in the state already affects 200 thousand people, 50 thousand families.

The committee meeting was attended by vice-governor Tadeu de Souza; secretaries and managers of state bodies, including the executive secretary of Civil Defense of Amazonas, Col. Francisco Máximo; and state deputy Alessandra Campelo.

Measurements

Governor Wilson Lima announced that State Aid, from the Government of Amazonas, which is paid on the 15th of each month, will be brought forward to this coming Friday (06/10). The measure covers everyone who receives the benefit.

Furthermore, according to the governor of Amazonas, a Bill will be forwarded to the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amazonas (Aleam) to grant remission and to renegotiate debts from Credit operations with Afeam. The measure, if approved, totals R$9.6 million and should benefit rural producers, micro and small entrepreneurs and low-income self-employed professionals affected by the drought.

Other measures, according to the governor, include identifying the cause of death of dolphins and fish, based on the work of inspectors from the Amazonas Environmental Protection Institute (Ipaam) with support from the Amazonas Regional Veterinary Medicine Council, and sending a daily bulletin with the main updated information about the drought.

Operation Beruri

On the occasion, Wilson Lima also updated the actions of the Government of Amazonas to provide assistance to residents of the Arumã community, in Beruri (173 kilometers from Manaus). Around 40 State employees work in the area that suffered a landslide. Later this week, more food, personal hygiene and essential items will be delivered to affected families.
