Google announced at the end of August new features for its tool that searches for airline tickets. With the update, it is possible to know the best time to book a trip while paying less.

Available in Brazil, the service provides a price thermometer and informs whether the value of the flights searched is low, normal or high compared to the averages of previous years for the same destination.

The analysis only considers routes with a solid and reliable price history. Therefore, trips with fewer available flights may not work.

To establish the best price, data on the total duration of the trip, origin and destination, time of year, number of stopovers, class and airline are analyzed.

When searching for a trip between São Paulo and Rome, for example, for the first week of December, the tool shows a round-trip ticket for R$4,015. On the screen, the price thermometer appears green, indicating that the flight is R$1,539 cheaper than normal (between R$4,800 and 6,600).

The same happens for a flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris in the same period. The cheapest ticket costs R$3,924, almost R$2,000 below the historical average.

In addition to the new function, the technology company released tips on the best period to buy tickets for Christmas. For those who want to travel in December, the best offers should appear at the beginning of October.

According to Google, average prices for 2023 tend to be lowest 71 days before departure. In 2022, the best cost appeared 22 days before the trip

Another tip is to make a stopover or avoid departures on weekends. According to the company’s data, these flights are cheaper.

The company also launched a new application that distributes a label for the cheapest flights. If a customer books a ticket with this brand and a cheaper ticket appears, Google promises to refund the difference. But there is no forecast for the prototype to arrive in Brazil.
