Globo signs exclusivity agreement for national team games – 05/30/2023 – Sport

TV Globo and CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) announced this Tuesday (30) an agreement for the exclusive transmission of the matches of the Brazilian men’s national team until 2026.

The contract between the parties includes all friendlies and clashes for the World Cup Qualifiers in which the green-and-yellow team is the host.

According to the broadcaster, in addition to the open channel, the matches will be broadcast on SporTV, the Globoplay platform and the ge.globo website.

The bond between the parties will already be in effect in the next commitments of the men’s team, in June. There will be clashes with Guinea, in Barcelona, ​​and with Senegal, in Lisbon, on the 17th and 20th, respectively.

The last duel of the Brazilian team, the friendly against Morocco in March this year, was exclusively broadcast on open TV by Band. At the time, the CBF also closed specific agreements to show the match on ESPN and on Canal GB, narrator Galvão Bueno, on YouTube.

When talking about the new contract with TV Globo, the president of the CBF, Edinaldo Rodrigues, pointed out that the Rio de Janeiro channel, “without a doubt, is the ideal partner for the purpose of having the selection closer to the fans”.

The director also highlighted the broadcaster’s capacity to broadcast the games on different platforms and stated that he is happy “to continue with this partnership that the fans already know and that has existed for many years”.

Fernando Manuel Pinto, director of sports rights at Globo, valued the prediction of exclusivity of the selection’s games on all the group’s platforms. “Fans will be able to unite on Globo screens to follow the preparation of the selection and the dispute for one more place in World Cups”, he said.

In September, Brazil’s journey in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers begins with two rounds, in which the team will face Bolivia at home – a game broadcast by TV Globo and SporTV – and also Peru, away from home.

The matches of the national team as a visitor do not yet have broadcasts defined. Each federation is responsible for negotiating the rights to its games as hosts.
