Giuliano Ribas is the new men’s volleyball coach at the Pan-American Championships – News of Brazil

The Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) announced Giuliano Ribas, also known as Juba, as coach of the men’s team at the Pan American Games in Santiago, which begin on October 20th. Juba will replace former coach Renan Dal Zotto, who resigned last Sunday (8), after winning the Olympic place for the Paris Games next year. Dal Zotto cited medical and family issues to withdraw from the national team.
Juba was part of former coach Dal Zotto’s committee, as a technical assistant. Graduated in Physical Education, he has 30 years of volleyball experience. He also worked as a technical assistant, performance analyst and supervisor.
“I am very honored by this invitation from CBV to represent Brazil with this team at the Pan American Games. We are leading a team that mixes young and experienced athletes. Some have already been in the group in other competitions this season and we also have highlights from the youth teams. The men’s team will do its best to help Brazil perform well in this important competition.”said Juba.
In 2004, Juba was part of the technical team of the beach volleyball duo formed by Ricardo and Emanuel, who won the gold medal at the Athens Olympics. Six years later, he returned to indoor volleyball. At Rio 2016, he participated in Bernardinho’s team as a technical assistant and was also Olympic champion.
“They were two very significant Olympic Games. In 2004, because it was my first Olympic experience and because I had the team we had. In 2016, we had a difficult journey, playing at home, but that helped us achieve our goal. But in both cases the process was the same. Arriving and feeling that you deserve to be there, that you are well prepared, that you worked and gave your best throughout the years of preparation. This makes you feel safe, due to the capacity you have acquired. It makes you ready to fight all the time,” concluded the interim coach.
