Senators Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE) and Magno Malta (PL-ES) will be appointed as representatives of the Vanguarda opposition bloc, composed of PL and Novo, in the CPMI of the January 8 attacks on the headquarters of the Powers in Brasília. This is what Senator Wellington Fagundes (PL-MT), leader of the group, says.

The alternates will be Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and Jorge Seif (PL-SC).

“All of them are very experienced and will certainly be in front of the CPMI, as it is necessary to clarify the Brazilian population about what happened that day. in allowing public buildings to be depredated”, says Fagundes.

For the leader of the block, the CPMI has to point out actions and omissions that motivated the acts.

“All this needs to be clarified, that’s what we hope and the Brazilian population has demanded a lot of this. On the part of our block, the names have already been defined and we are now going to demand the investigation as quickly as possible”, he says.

The nominations now need to be countersigned by the Senate Board of Directors.

Fagundes says he is concerned about the situation of Anderson Torres, Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District on January 8, who has been in prison for over a hundred days.

“A preventive detention lasting so long is something that really makes us extremely concerned because it sets precedents for the Judiciary to exceed its action. We are pressing for the former minister and all those who are imprisoned to have their freedom until the conclusion of the investigation, of the judgment. The CPMI will have a preponderant role in these investigations”, he concludes.

In the Senate, the government will nominate six names for the CPMI. PP and Republicans, closer to the opposition, have two seats. The Democracy block, made up of MDB, PDT, PSDB, Podemos, Rede and União Brasil, has six nominations.
