Get to know the plane that Leila Pereira bought for the Palmeiras trips

THE Palmeiras squad and coaching staff will soon travel only on private flights. President Leila Pereira bought an aircraft for use by athletes traveling within Brazil and abroad. The information was revealed by the agent at a meeting of the club’s Board of Directors, on Monday.

The plane, an Embraer E-190 valued at R$ 280 million, has capacity for 114 passengers and is owned by one of the companies owned by Leila Pereira and her husband, José Roberto Lamacchia, owners of Crefisa and FAM, which sponsor Palmeiras since 2015.

The aircraft will be available to Palmeiras for games away from São Paulo and was acquired with the aim of facilitating logistics, avoiding wear and tear with the Brazilian air network and reducing operating costs, since all flights are currently chartered by the club. In the United States, it is common for basketball teams to travel on their own jets.

Leila Pereira came up with the idea of ​​buying the aircraft, which should be delivered in three months and can be loaned to other clubs when not in use. She didn’t notify anyone at the club until she announced the new acquisition at a meeting on Monday.

Leila and Lamacchia, it should be remembered, founded an airline on October 5, 2022. Named Placar Linhas Aéreas S/A, the company works to obtain the necessary certifications from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) in order to start operating. The couple also own their own executive jet, a Falcon 8X registered PR-JRY.

Leila Pereira is the fifth richest woman in Brazil and boasts the 45th largest fortune in the country, according to Forbes, a magazine specializing in business and economics. According to the publication, the 57-year-old businesswoman owns assets valued at R$7.2 billion.

The Embraer E-190 can seat 96 to 114 passengers, has a wingspan of 28.72 meters and a length of 36.24 meters. The aircraft can reach a top speed of 871 km/h and has a range of 4,537 km. The first flight of this model, an Embraer-owned project, took place in March 2004.

The maximum takeoff weight is 51,800 kg and the landing weight is 44,000 kg. Maximum payload is 13,047 kg and maximum usable fuel 12,971 kg. According to the manufacturer, the model is spacious and economical.

The value of an aircraft is very variable. In 2021, a model like the one Leila acquired was valued at US$ 55 million, something around R$ 280 million at the current quotation.
