Gamescom will be held in Brazil for the first time in 2024 – 11/29/2023 – Tech

Gamescom, Europe’s main digital games event, will be held for the first time in Latin America between June 26 and 30, 2024 at São Paulo Expo, in the capital of São Paulo.

Gamescom Latam, as it will be called, will merge with the BIG Festival, which received 50 thousand visitors this year. The Brazilian games fair will continue to exist within the new event, according to the organization.

“The creation of Gamescom Latam corresponds to the recognition of Brazil and Latin America as central territories by the world’s largest gaming companies”, said in a statement Gustavo Steinberg, CEO of the BIG Festival and now of Gamescom Latam.

Announced this Tuesday (28), the event is the result of a partnership between fair organizer Koelnmesse, the German Games Industry Association, BIG Festival and Omelete Company, creator of CCXP, which will be held starting this Thursday- fair (30).

Gamescom Latam will also have the strategic support of the state and municipal governments of São Paulo.

The event will be a platform for the global gaming industry in the first half of the year, with networking, collaboration with the region’s industry and game launches, the organization said.

In the second semester, the BGS (Brazil Game Show) has been held since 2009, which this year took place between October 11th and 15th and received 328 thousand visitors.

During Gamescom Latam, the city of São Paulo will receive themed signage, panels in transport and massive publicity for the event.

At this year’s edition of Gamescom, held in Cologne, Germany, Brazil was represented by a delegation of 57 studios led by Abragames (Brazilian Association of Game Developers) through Brazil Games, an export sector project carried out in partnership with ApexBrasil.

“As a partner of the BIG Festival since the first edition, Abragames will be part of the curation of Gamescom Latam’s B2B content, such as panels and lectures, and will be responsible for part of the international guests who will come to the event in 2024”, said the association , in note.
