Furlan swears in the first Women’s Secretary of Macapá – News of Brazil

With the mission of formulating and executing public policies to eliminate discrimination that affects women and guarantee equal opportunities and rights for them, the mayor of Macapá, Antônio Furlan, created the Municipal Secretariat for Women (Semmu) and sworn in the first holder of the portfolio, Maria Neucila de Oliveira.

The inauguration ceremony took place this Monday, 22nd, in the Meeting Room of Macapá City Hall. The secretary is a trained psychologist. In the 1990s, she was state secretary of administration in the government of Annibal Barcellos. Neucila also held the position of secretary of administration of Macapá, under the management of Roberto Góes.

Mayor Furlan, when inaugurating the municipal secretary for women, said that Maria Neucila de Oliveira will contribute to strengthening the citizenship, autonomy and emancipation of Macapa women and encourage women’s participation in commercial, industrial, social and family spheres and well-being.

“With the new portfolio, we will articulate and integrate city hall actions aimed at women, and establish partnerships with public and private bodies and institutions to develop projects related to women”said Neucila, at the time.

In the program ‘LuizMeloInterview’ (Diário FM 90.9) This Tuesday, the 23rd, the first holder of the Macapá women’s portfolio promised to do excellent work, seeking to highlight women in all areas of development, notably in entrepreneurship and the job market.
