The mayor of Macapá, Dr. Furlan, announced this Monday (22) the appointment and inauguration of the Municipal Women’s Secretariat (Semmu), which will aim to promote integrated actions for the development and valorization of women in the capital of Amapá. The ceremony took place in the Macapá City Hall building.

The new portfolio was created through Complementary Law No. 187/2023-PMM, approved by the City Council and sanctioned by Mayor Dr. Furlan.

The women’s secretariat will have the mission of formulating and executing public policies to eliminate discrimination that affects women, guarantee equal opportunities and rights, and encourage women’s participation in commercial, industrial, social, family and well-being spheres. in Macapá.

Among the Secretariat’s responsibilities are articulating and integrating City Hall’s actions aimed at women and establishing partnerships with public and private bodies and institutions to develop projects related to women.

The expectation is that the new Secretariat will contribute to strengthening the citizenship, autonomy and emancipation of Macapa women.
