In his attempt to convince the senators to approve a provisional measure that stipulates the transfer of 5% of surpluses from Sesc (Social Service of Commerce) and Senac (National Service of Commercial Learning) to Embratur, Marcelo Freixo has said that the institutions they don’t want to debate the fact that, according to him, they have R$15 billion in cash and money left over annually.
The former deputy has referred to the issue as a “black box” and has asked, ironically, whether Sesc and Senac became banks.
In an article published in SheetFreixo explained his reasoning in detail: “the entities raise together R$ 9 billion a year. On average, every year R$ 2 billion is left over from the budget. how much will be allocated to tourism, according to the proposal? BRL 447 million. It is less than 3% of the surplus accumulated in the budget”.
Initially scheduled for last week, the vote on MP 1,147 should take place on Wednesday (24). The text was approved at the end of April by the House and is awaiting consideration by the Senate. In recent weeks, Sesc and Senac began a mobilization to stop the measure, with a petition, sending SMS and videos with the participation of artists.
On the contrary, Freixo has visited the offices of councilors and handed over statements from Sesc and Senac, budget, asset and financial balance sheets.
Entities have questioned the cuts made by Freixo. According to them, the provisional measure could end units in more than 100 cities, causing the closure of 31,000 free places in professional education and 7,700 in basic education.
In the case of Sesc, the calculation is that R$ 121 million would no longer be invested in free services. Senac, on the other hand, says that the transfer of resources would be responsible for the closure of 29 professional training centers, with a cut of R$ 140 million in assistance.
