The former Commander of Operations of the Military Police of the Federal District, Colonel Jorge Eduardo Naime, will no longer be heard by the CPMI of the acts of January 8 this Monday afternoon (26). His witness statement was scheduled for 2:00 pm.
Naime was excused from the session after the defense presented a medical certificate. A little earlier, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), denied a request for habeas corpus for Naime not to attend the session, but allowed him to remain silent so as not to generate evidence against him.
The former commander would be heard by the CPMI due to the acts of vandalism that occurred on December 12, when demonstrators promoted violent protests and tried to invade the Federal Police headquarters in the center of Brasília against the diplomacy of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Geraldo Alckmin .
Naime was arrested in February by Operation Lesa Pátria, which is investigating the January 8 acts. The colonel left a few days before the demonstration that led to the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Three Powers.
