The former minister of Lula’s Civil House, José Dirceu, has been admitted to the Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo, since Monday (26). The 77-year-old politician was diagnosed with pneumonia. Federal deputy Zeca Dirceu (PT-PR), son of the former minister, stated that he has “talked to him every day”.
In a statement, the hospital reported that the politician is stable and is not expected to be discharged. “Mr. José Dirceu de Oliveira e Silva was admitted to the Sírio-Libanês Hospital on February 26th with a diagnosis of pneumonia. It is stable and has no forecast for an increase. The patient is under the care of Prof. Dr. Roberto Kalil Filho”, says the medical bulletin.
“Every day is getting better and he will be home soon. I thank everyone who sent messages of support and concern”, said Zeca on X. In February last year, José Dirceu was admitted to a private hospital in Brasília and underwent a neurosurgical procedure. At the time, he was “admitted with a subdural hematoma” and underwent a “drainage procedure”.
