Paulinho da Força’s statements that Solidariedade, the party of which he is national president, is currently independent of the Lula (PT) government and is opposed to the Fake News PL mainly because the PT administration is in favor of it were not well received by leaders of the Força Sindical, trade union center that he presided over and that gave him the nickname.
Força Sindical, the second largest central in the country in number of unions, was the origin of Solidariedade, in 2012, and its representatives are usually part of both institutions.
João Carlos Gonçalves, known as Juruna, Força’s general secretary, says that the dialogue with the PT government has been productive, important themes such as the minimum wage readjustment and the review of the labor reform have been forwarded, and that Paulinho cannot divulge a position of removal from the government without consulting the union bases.
“If that is the decision, we are going to look for another party that is in the Lula government’s allied base”, affirms Juruna.
