For director of Antaq, sale of the port of Santos cooled down – 03/01/2023 – Panel

At an event with companies in the infrastructure sector on Tuesday (28), the director of Antaq (National Waterway Transport Agency) Flávia Takafashi stated that there is still no definition on the privatization of the Port of Santos.
According to her, the process is still open, while other models are being studied, including the channel concession and different forms of bidding.
The speech was read as a sign that privatization is losing traction even in the regulatory agency.
Earlier this month, Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) went so far as to declare that the port of Santos is “on the way” to be privatized and that he would work to convince President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) on the subject. ).
In practice, however, the sale as it is proposed has already been discarded by the Minister of Ports, Márcio França (PSB), who is against the concession to the private initiative of the port authority.
