Football: pre-Olympics will be in Venezuela in January and February 2024 – News of Brazil

Venezuela will host, from January 20th next year, the men’s football Pre-Olympic for the Paris 2024 Games. The announcement was made by the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), through social media. The U23 national team competition will take place in the capital Caracas and also in the cities of Valencia and Barquisimeto.
Current two-time Olympic champion, Brazil is competing for one of the two places for the Paris Games with nine other countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela). The Pre-Olympic final is scheduled for February 11th. The Brazilian women’s team will not need to compete in the Pre-Olympics, as they already secured their place by winning the Copa América last year.
In the men’s Pre-Olympic Games for the Tokyo Games, held in Colombia in January 2021, Brazil secured a place in second place, behind champion Argentina.
The Brazilian team won two consecutive Olympic gold medals: the first in Rio 2016 and then in the Tokyo edition. Previously, the country had already won silver at the London Olympics (2012) and bronze at the Beijing Games (2008).
