The Football Development Center should be opened this year in the west zone of Macapá (CDF-AP) from Amapá. The information comes from the president of the Amapá Football Federation (FAF), congressperson Roberto Góes, who holds a vice-presidency at the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
The construction of the CDF-AP is part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Legacy project in Brazil, managed by the CBF and the works are expected to be completed and inaugurated later this year, in the Mara Baixo III neighborhood, west of the capital.
CBF decided to build 15 Training Centers (CTs) in states that did not host World Cup games, including Amapá. In total, 14 states and the Federal District benefit from the project, whose budget is R$250 million, with R$15 million for each center. In 2022, Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF, was in Macapá to sign the document to begin the works, which will be financed by the FIFA World Cup Legacy Fund.
The venue will have an official football field and grandstands with capacity to accommodate around a thousand people. There will also be space for referee training, training, practical and physical training for the referee team, in addition to the men’s and women’s base championships.
Social role
In addition to encouraging sport in Amapá, the Development Center will fulfill an important social function, opening doors for young people aged 7 to 14. This has a huge impact on the future of young people because they will opt for an activity that will benefit their development as an athlete and citizen, says Roberto Góes.
