Fluminense thrashes Flamengo and takes Carioca’s bi – 09/04/2023 – Sport

Fluminense won the Campeonato Carioca for the second consecutive year, again with a victory over Flamengo. This Sunday (9), in a crowded Maracanã, they triumphed by 4 to 1.

With two goals from Germán Cano, one from Marcelo and one from Alexsander, the tricolor team dominated the red-black team on the field in the second match of the Carioca Championship decision — Ayrton Lucas cashed in at the end. The first leg had been won by Flamengo 2-0.

With few clear chances to score, Flamengo did not find themselves on the field and saw Fluminense dominate the actions. After the fourth goal, before halfway through the second half, the red-black team was down on the field and without the power to react.

Last year, Fluminense was also champion against Flamengo. At the time, winning the title broke a ten-year tricolor fast in Carioca.

It was the fourth failed attempt at a title for Flamengo in 2023. In January, against Palmeiras, he lost the Supercopa do Brasil (title between the winner of the Copa do Brasil and that of the Brazilian). In February, he was defeated by Independiente del Valle in the Recopa Sul-Americana (a cup between the winner of the Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana). The red-black team was still eliminated by Al Hilal in the semifinals of the 2022 Club World Cup, played in February.

In Minas Gerais, Atlético Mineiro prevailed over América-MG and won the fourth consecutive state title, with two goals from Hulk, who became the tournament’s top scorer with 11 goals.

The first of them in the second and last game of the final —at the Mineirão— was a penalty, after intervention by the video referee (VAR), and the second, after a counterattack led by Zaracho. In the first leg, at the Independência stadium, the alvinegro team also won, by 3 to 2.

The Goiano Championship was decided between Goiás and Atlético Goianiense with emotion. After having won the first game of the decision by 2-0, Atlético was defeated by Goiás by 3-1, in Serrinha – the third of the emerald team was scored in the second-half stoppage time.

The dispute then went to penalties. Hugo, from Goiás, scored, but the video referee identified two touches by the player, who slipped at the moment of the shot. Afterwards, Bruno Tubarão hit the decisive penalty to give Atlético the title: 5 to 4.

For the Paranaense Championship, Athletico drew 0-0 with Cascavel and took the title undefeated, after a 2-1 victory in the first leg.

In the Campeonato Gaúcho, defined on Saturday (8), Grêmio won the sixth consecutive title by beating Caxias by 1-0, in Porto Alegre, with a goal by Luis Suárez, from the penalty spot. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the Cearense Championship, Fortaleza drew 2-2 with Ceará at the end of the game. As he had won the first game of the decision, he left with the title. Now, Fortaleza has 46 state titles, one more than the opponent in Saturday’s final, its biggest rival.
