The minister sent a letter with the request to open an investigation to the director general of the PF, Andrei Rodrigues.
Dino was in President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s delegation that visited the region last Saturday (21). He stated, in a press conference, that there are “evidence” that public agents were aware of the situation in the indigenous territory and did not act. “I have no technical doubt, although obviously it is not for me to judge, that there are very strong indications of the materiality of the crime of genocide”, said the minister.
“Deaths due to malnutrition or treatable diseases, little or no access to health services, insufficient measures to protect the Yanomami, in addition to the diversion in the purchase of medicines and vaccines destined to protect this people against COVID-19, lead to a scenario of possible intentional dismantling against the Yanomami indigenous people or genocide”, reads an excerpt from the letter.
“The repeated requests for help against the violence resulting from illegal mining, as well as the absence of effective actions and health services available to the Yanomami, highlight a possible intention to cause serious damage to the integrity or even cause the extinction of the aforementioned original group,” he said. the minister in the document.
This Sunday (22), PT deputies triggered the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) with a request for an investigation against former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and former minister Damares Alves (Republicanos-DF), who commanded the Ministry of Women , Family and Human Rights, for allegedly committing the crime of genocide against Yanomami indigenous people.
