Flávio Bolsonaro defends immediate arrest of former head of Lula’s GSI

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) classified the differences in the report on the acts of January 8, sent to Congress by the former head of the Institutional Security Office (GSI), General Marco Gonçalves Dias, as “unequivocal proof” of omission of the Lula government before the episode.

On social media, the senator, who is a member of the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) that investigates acts of vandalism, said that the exclusion of information in the document from the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) sent in January to the Joint Commission of Control of Intelligence Activities (CCAI), verified by parliamentarians after confronting the full document later sent by the successor of former minister Dias, general Marco Antonio Amaro dos Santos, “reinforces suspicions” that actions were taken to hide evidence.

According to parliamentarians from the CCAI, who had access to the confidential documents, the Abin report removed the records that Gonçalves Dias was warned with a series of messages sent by agents to his cell phone about the increasing risks of invasion and depredation of buildings in the Praça dos Três Poderes. There were 11 alerts dealing with movements and plans of demonstrators between the 6th and 8th of January alone, according to the agency then linked to the GSI and which became linked to the Civil House, as a result of the facts.

Of the more than 500 requests to hear at the CPMI authorities linked to the 8th of January, among other measures, around 300 have precisely this situation of suspected omission as a target. There are 13 requests asking for the general’s summons.

“General Dias already knew everything well in advance. Government agents have already realized the risk of violent actions, reporting on caravans and summons, and nothing has been done,” said Flávio Bolsonaro. The senator also said that the former minister would have lied to the Federal Police (PF) in his testimony, by denying having received the alerts, revealing deliberate omission to lead to confirmation of the acts and crediting responsibility to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who was out of office, while new Planalto security staff had been appointed since the transition.

The senator calls for the immediate arrest of former Minister Gonçalves Dias, “following the same criteria that led to the arrest of demonstrators who acted peacefully and of former Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres, for four months.” “We are seeking the truth and the matter will be taken to the CPMI”, he warned. The next board meeting, previously scheduled for this Thursday, will be on Tuesday (6).
