The Flamengo delegation is already on Moroccan soil. The team from Rio de Janeiro landed in the city of Casablanca early this Friday morning, at Brasilia time, to play in the Club World Cup. The Brazilian team will make its direct debut in the semifinal, on Tuesday.
After disembarking, the group headed directly to the hotel, where they will be staying for the next few days. The team will train on Friday, at the hotel itself, located in the city of Rabat. Initially, activity was planned at the Prince Moulay El Hassan stadium. The first activity in Morocco will be closed to the press.
If the team’s arrival in the African country was discreet, the same cannot be said about the departure. The crowd honored the delegation boarding, in Rio de Janeiro, with the so-called “AeroFla”. Part of the fans accompanied the bus that took the CT George Helal team to Galeão airport, early Thursday night.
Before boarding, the Flamengo group trained under the command of coach Vítor Pereira, who guided tactical work. Only the players who stayed on the field over the 90 minutes against Boavista, the day before, in a round of the Carioca Championship, went to the field. The holders did a regenerative job.
In Morocco, in search of the world title, Flamengo will start its campaign on Tuesday in the match against the winner of Wydad Casablanca x Al Hilal, who will face each other on Saturday, at 11:30 am. The other semifinal will have Real Madrid, favorites for the trophy. The Spaniards will debut on Wednesday.
The World Cup started on Wednesday, with the victory of Al Ahly over Auckland City by 3 to 0. The Egyptian team will face Seattle Sounders, from the United States, on Saturday. The winner of this match will be Real Madrid’s debut opponent.
